Most Portable Hard Drives Are Too Fragile To Survive a 6-inch drop !

What Makes a Great Rugged Portable Hard Drive?

The ideal rugged portable hard drive has the following 8 features:
  1. High reliability and shock protection to keep data safe
Note: The ideal rugged portable hard drive will survive 26 drops at 4 feet on a hard surface, per the Military Standard MIL-STD-810F transit drop test
  2. Fast data transfer rate
  3. High maximum capacity
  4. Long operational life, backed by a THREE-YEAR warranty
  5. Reasonably priced
  6. Easy to use plug-and-play installation
  7. Usable with USB 2.0, Firewire, or SATA interfaces, or in a docking bay
  8. Convenient portability in a handheld package that stands vertically
Very Few Rugged Portable Hard Drives Meet all Eight

There are many portable hard drives. However, most - including models that claim to be "rugged" are too fragile to be moved around safely and are not even close to meeting the Military Standard MIL-STD-810F transit drop test! That's because most have no shock protection or use outdated technology.

Olixir Developed a Military-Grade "Rugged" Portable Hard Drive

We developed a portable hard drive, the Mobile DataVault 2LX, with proprietary NEW shock protection technology that not only meets, but easily EXCEEDS the MIL-STD-810F transit drop test. This test requires surviving 26 4-foot drops on all surfaces of the drive onto a hard surface. You won't find a more durable and versatile portable hard drive. And its less expensive than most military portable hard drives.

Use with the following cables (interchangeably):

USB 2.0/1.1

Firewire Serial ATA (SATA)
Or plug into a:

5.25" Docking Bay

Capacities: 60GB, 80GB, 100GB, 160GB
(Note: With software compression, you can typically achieve 2X the native capacity.)

Choose from 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM
This product is ideal for the following applications:

Mobile surveillance/video recording

Transporting data via mail, Fed Ex, UPS, or other carriers

Backup and disaster recovery - safe for offsite archiving

Storage of highly sensitive data (intelligence, military, financial)

Digital video or photo storage

Consolidating CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes

Hard drives are at risk of damage with couple-inch drops, knocks, or bumps. The Mobile DataVault 2LX is among the very few portable hard drives that features patented ULTRA-RUGGED SHOCK PROTECTION. Most portable drives, including a few that claim to be "rugged", do not pass the Military Standard Transit Drop Test MIL-STD-810F. Unlike flimsy hard drive enclosures, this product is a complete assembled solution with much higher shock protection. Our drive not only passes this standard, it exceeds the standard.

Mobile DataVault 3DX External Portable Drive with 1,200 Gs shock protection and up to 400/800GB capacity. Used for backup/disaster recovery, digital content, and transporting data in an office.

FastRestore SE Backup & Disaster Recovery System for small enterprises. Offers 100% replacement for midrange tape backup.

--Customizable to your requirements
 Benefits

Highly Durable & Reliable to Keep Your Data SAFE
Our portable hard drive uses highly reliable internal drives and provides over 10,000 Gs of patented shock protection in a high-impact case, which keeps your data protected from drops. This drive exceeds the very challenging MIL-STD-810F Transit Drop Test.

High Capacity
Choose from 60GB to 160GB of native capacity - much larger than flash drives, and equal to hundreds of CDs and thousands of floppy disks. Capacity is larger than most tapes.

High Data Transfer Rate
With 8 MB Cache, 5400 RPM, this drive can move a Gigabyte data in less than 40 seconds.

Amazing Reliability Backed by a Three-Year Guarantee!
We confidently provide a three-year warranty, including coverage for any damage caused by drops!

Easy to Install & Use
This drive features plug-and-play functionality with Windows 2000/ME/XP, Macintosh OS 8.6, and Linux.

Bus Powered
Our USB 2.0, Firewire, or Serial ATA cables power the drives from most brands of laptops.

Small Handheld Package That's Stackable & Stands Vertically
At 4.4 x 7.5 x 1.4 inches this drive is about the size of a VHS tape.

Ultra-Flexible Interface
Can be used INTERCHANGEABLY with USB 2.0, Firewire, Serial ATA, and PCMCIA cables, or plug into a 5.25" docking bay!
